Harley Park is located on the Broadwater at Labrad Harley Park is located on the Broadwater at Labrador, and is a bustling hive of activity any day of the week. With a swimming lagoon, pelicans, picnic facilities, a playground and ninja course, this is a very popular family destination. The larger playground is located at the main carpark, alongside Charis Seafoods, and being fully fenced it caters more for the younger children. A nautical themed ship playground, all the equipment is easily accessible for little legs and the ground is sand, perfect for any small tumbles. About 100m further along the path, you’ll also find the first Ninja Course to be built on the Gold Coast! Here the older kids can test their agility as they race to complete the ninja circuit. What is perfect about Harley Park is that it is RIGHT. ON. THE. WATER. The views are spectacular, and it’s the perfect spot to pull up a picnic blanket and enjoy some fish and chips. If you’re there around 1.30pm each day, you can even watch as staff from Charis Seafood feed the local pelicans -it’s quite a sight! Anna Carey’s Magic + Memory: make me a home (Sat 9 Nov 2024 – Sun 27 Apr 2025) The new Children’s Gallery exhibition is your home away from home at HOTA. Gold Coast artist Anna Carey creates miniature models of houses and the rooms inside them. Her work has been spectacularly brought to life in an oversized model created for play and daydreams. What is real? Where could you use your imagination? There are magical and memorable moments to discover as you are invited to ‘make a home’ in the Children’s Gallery. The HOTA Gallery may be designed to cater for international art exhibitions, but families haven't been forgotten! The Children's Gallery at HOTA Gallery lets little artists get hands on in this creative space and discover interactive exhibits that complement the main galleries. This latest exhibition, I will be honest, while I enjoyed it, is not my favourite. While the topic of Gold Coast nostalgia is interesting and I enjoyed the space, the topic is lost on the children. My favourite exhibits here have been those that focus on child appropriate topics (Kingdom of Kindness and Colour Your Imagination are my 2 all-time favourites). In this new exhibit, you can build with foam breezeblocks, play with puzzles that are pictures of retro Gold Coast beach houses, decorate the house with hanging pictures, and go through all the Tupperware in the replica kitchen. There is also a small craft activity to do. If you're in the HOTA precinct, stop by for a visit and a reprieve from the heat. We spent about 30 minutes here including the craft activity. Frascott Park is one of those places that gives yo Frascott Park is one of those places that gives you bang for your buck! With not one, but two playgrounds on site, a dog park, open fields and a pathway perfect for biking, there is a lot to do here. It’s no wonder then that this place is busy on weekends, but thankfully there is still a lot of space to spread out and enjoy the parklands. Accessed via Yodelay Street or Mattocks Road, the most popular part of the park is the newer Safari themed playground (located closer to the Mattocks Rd entrance). Here you’ll find two play structures, one for the bigger kids and one for the toddlers. The second playground is located closer to Yodelay Street and has been around for some time. While it’s nothing new and fancy, those with smaller kids might prefer this playground. With lots of trees around, it is shadier and a lot quieter, and everything is toddler accessible! There are plenty of bridges to climb and a slide to go down, a merry go round, swing set and spider net round off the equipment here. October's reads! 📚 Lots of 4 star reads becaus October's reads! 📚 Lots of 4 star reads because I had a bunch of library holds finally come through! 📚 got to read the final @authorelsiesilver book in the Chestnut Springs series plus the last two @beckamack.author books in her series (hockey romance) 📚 Elizabeth O'Roark is a new to me author and I really enjoyed her writing 📚 @drbillygarvey mental health book was excellent. I did this as an audio book and so enjoyable listening to him speak. #whatiread #bookstagram
@tartebeachhouse at Currumbin is the sister venue @tartebeachhouse at Currumbin is the sister venue to Burleigh’s Tarte Bakery, and located right alongside Currumbin Creek, beside the Currumbin bridge. This show stopper venue is without a doubt one of the best water side cafes you will find on the Gold Coast, and is super family friendly! Grab a table under the patio, or by the shade of the huge trees and Parisian-style black and white striped umbrellas. Enjoy all day brunch, coffee, cocktails and fresh juices, and specialty pastries, as well as a kids menu. For those with older children, they can easily head off to spend some time on the sand while you wait for your orders. For those with younger children, you might opt for takeaway instead, and bring your picnic blanket to sit on the sand by the creek. It’s a great spot for splashing around in the water, and would make a perfect mum’s group catch up – coffee, cake, and a paddle! On the other side of the small carpark beside Tarte Beach House, there is also a small and simple playground, but it all adds to the fun of a visit here.
