School Transit Assistance Scheme

Did you know that you could be getting paid for driving your kids to school?? The Qld Government offers a School Transit Assistance Scheme, which is not means tested and available to a range of families. There are a range of categories, but the one that many people (not all) will fit is the Private Transport Conveyance Allowance, based on distance.

If your nearest state primary school is more than 3.2km away, and your nearest state secondary school is more than 4.8km away, it’s likely you’ll be eligible! Non-state school students must live the required distance from both the nearest state and non-state school.

All you have to do is fill out an online form and hit submit. If you fit the criteria you’ll receive a deposit into your bank account around the end of Term 2 and the end of Term 4. It pays around $11 a week minimum, which is $200 per Semester. It took about 5 minutes to complete the form, so what have you got to lose!? *If you’ve previously applied for the scheme, you will receive a hardcopy renewal form in the mail to check and send back. I spoke with them last year and they confirmed that you can just resubmit the online form if you wish!
