Pimpama Sports Hub, Pimpama

The Pimpama Sports Hub is home to the northern Gold Coast’s state-of-the-art aquatic centre with Olympic-standard 50m swimming pool, netball and tennis facilities and heaps of other recreational and sporting options. Built on a 14-hectare site, it has a large outdoor events space for things like Carols by Candlelight and outdoor movies, and also a community centre. The cherry on the top is the children’s playground and walking trails, making this an inviting hub for families to visit any day of the week.

Aquatic Centre

The aquatic centre includes a 50m outdoor swimming pool, a 25m indoor swimming pool, learn to swim pool managed by Gold Coast City Council, and a hydrotherapy pool. There is also a children’s splash zone, and a fully equipped fitness centre with creche. The splash zone is well designed, with water fountains, bubbling brooks and a knee deep pool making it great fun for toddlers and primary aged children. There are lots of shade umbrellas and seating options throughout the splash zone and around the outside. During school holidays they also have an inflatable waterpark set up in the 50m pool for older children. Price information is available here

Playground

The playground features two main components – a large tower and a toddler play structure. There is also a swing set and a few rockers and spinners scattered around. The large tower has a 3-storey mega slide as well as a smaller 2-storey open slide, and plenty of climbing options through the main tower. The toddler play structure has a smaller slide, and again plenty of climbing options that have been well designed to encourage them to develop this skill with nets that are closer together and easy to navigate.

The playground is mostly covered with shade cloth, and relies on the shade of older, established trees. There is a water fountain and some picnic tables in the area, however there is no shade over the tables and it can get quite hot there. Toilets are available in the Aquatic Centre, just a short walk down the path. Best parking for the playground is via the Aquatic Centre.

Other facilities

For those who love a walk, there’s a one-kilometre distance marked walking trail and an elevated boardwalk through a natural watercourse, with views across the sports hub. Information on the fitness centre, netball centre and community centre can be accessed on the Gold Coast City Council website.

Need to know:

• Location: The Pimpama Sports Hub is located on Rifle Range Road at Pimpama and can be accessed via the signalised interchange on Rifle Range Road. Bull Road access to the Sports Hub is only for deliveries and should not be used by visitors.
• Facilities: Toilets are available in the Aquatic Centre building. The entire precinct is pram and wheelchair friendly, with concrete paths and ramps connecting everything. Drinking fountains and BBQs are available throughout the precinct. Electric Vehicle charging stations are also available.
