Parklake Park at Maudsland can’t be seen from the street, and so many people are surprised once they make their way down to it at how big the playground is! This playground caters well to kids of all ages, with two separate play structures and lots much more to discover.
You can either park along Greenway Boulevard, or head down to the Council parking spaces in front of SuperFish Swim School. Either option you will need to cross the large field perfect for kicking a ball around, to get to the playground. Set under lots of shady trees, plus a few shade cloth structures, you’ll find a mega slide, toddler playground, flying fox, swings, huge sandpit and lots of imaginative play elements.
The larger playground has one of the tallest straight drop slides I’ve seen on the Gold Coast! It’s quite a walk up to the top, but once you’re there the kids will love the trip to the bottom. There are heaps of spring ride-ons along the pathway to have a go of, a set of 5 swings, a basket swing and a flying fox to play with too.
The toddler playground is well designed for those who are crawling, unsteady on their feet, or not so confident climbing. Everything is very easy to manouvre over, and there are very few hazards for parents to worry about. Ramps and steps make it easy to climb up to the slide, and there are some easy to use see-saws here as well.
There is also a large sandpit that has interactive elements such as a car, climbing dome, drums and animal sculptures. This is under a huge shadecloth and has seating all around it, ideal for supervising parents.
Parklake Park is very popular on the weekends, and it’s easy to see why. The equipment has been here a while, but it covers so many ages and has been well maintained so lots of fun to be had. There is a toilet block, picnic tables, BBQs and a gazebo for those wanting a longer stay.
