If you’re looking for the best family getaway, o If you’re looking for the best family getaway, one where EVERYONE including mum gets to relax and enjoy themselves, a cruise is absolutely the way to go. My family love cruising, in fact my husband and I have been on 11 @royalcaribbeanaunz cruises (totalling 95 nights at sea)! Since having kids, we’ve cruised 3 times, and I can happily say it’s an even better experience when you’re traveling as a family. Royal Caribbean have some of the biggest and best ships in the industry, and while we aren’t quite lucky enough to see some of the mega ships here in Australia, Brisbane is a home port each year for a Royal ship which means easy access to your holiday. No flying to Sydney just to begin! For the past few years we have seen Quantum of the Seas located in Brisbane, so this article is mostly regarding this ship, however in the 25-26 season Voyager of the Seas will return to Brisbane instead – and I’ve been on this one a few times too and it’s actually one of my favourites, so I've included some info about this ship too! From the moment you hop on board, you’re on holidays and you can feel everyone’s joy and excitement. World Wildlife Day is celebrated in Australia toda World Wildlife Day is celebrated in Australia today on March 3rd, recognising the world's wild animals and plants, and raising awareness of their importance. On the Gold Coast, we’re blessed to have incredible native plants and animals all around us, and plenty of amazing opportunities to get up close and personal. Here are 7 FREE family-friendly ways to experience the Gold Coast’s native plants and animals in recognition of World Wildlife Day. 1. Visit the Coombabah Wetlands and spot kangaroos, wallabies and koalas 2. Feed the wild lorikeets at Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary 3. Stroll the Tamborine Mountain Botanic Garden's family-friendly Sooty Owl’s Creekside discovery trail 4. Picnic at Syd Duncan Park, taking in the mountain views and playing in the community nature garden 5. Explore the low tide mudflats at Jacobs Well 6. Enjoy this carnival-style attraction full of dinosaurs and spectacular activities that immerse you in a prehistoric time. Here you can see a world full of moving dinosaurs, dress up as a Paleontologist and chip away at your own fossil, learn to draw dinosaurs, play prehistoric putt-putt, dig in the excavation site and have fun on the numerous dinosaur-themed inflatables! We visited with my boys aged 4 and 7, and they had the best time! We were there for the full 2 hour session and it was very easy to get around and do everything with very minimal wait times. They loved all the activities and were the perfect ages for this experience. This travelling carnival is currently at Browns Plains, just 30mins from the Northern Gold Coast, and it will also be heading to Loganholme for the school holidays! 2 hour sessions are available every Fri, Sat & Sun until 16 March at Browns Plains. @minimecoffeeshop at Mudgeeraba has opened its doo @minimecoffeeshop at Mudgeeraba has opened its doors, with a cozy cafe space perfect for families! Grab a seat inside nearby the playroom, or sit on the deck by the cubby house. A huge variety of fresh foods on the menu, and plenty of child-friendly options with an extensive kids menu. This place doesn’t just think about the kids, it puts them front and centre! This is a small space, but the perfect option for catching up with that friend for a chat. There are 4 indoor tables and 5 outdoor tables, plus a few occasional chairs and side tables on the deck too. That they’ve sacrificed ‘money making’ floor space for a great sized play room is what really makes me love them! The indoor play room is packed with books, toys, bean bags, a kitchen and a little ball pit. There is so much here to explore! The little outdoor cubby has a heap of toys there too, and the owner has a few more tweaks planned to make it even more fun for the kids. The menu features a number of delicious Serbian dishes and flavours, European cakes and desserts, plus a few regular cafe staples, so everyone is bound to find something they love. The kids menu includes toasties, fresh sandwiches and mini pizzas. Coffee, fresh juices, milkshakes and a drinks fridge are on offer for refreshments.
Today we went and played at @sprout.and.bloom_ Nat Today we went and played at @sprout.and.bloom_ Nature Playgroup pop up! It was such a lovely experience, set up under the trees with so many play stations to explore. My little one's favourite kept him occupied for a good 25min straight! This is the newest nature play playgroup located on the Northern Gold Coast, and offers a variety of activities each week including sensory and messy play, playdough, nature crafts, small world set ups and water play. There is a new theme each week including themes like On the farm, Summertime, Bubbles, Construction, Fairy Forest and Easter. Sessions run weekly on a Tuesday at Pimpama, but for those unable to make a Tuesday, they also occasionally have a pop up session somewhere in the North on a Thursday! @sprout.and.bloom_ is a safe and inviting space for kids to play and explore, and parents will have just as much fun engaging with them in this space! Bookings are essential, sessions are $15 per child (under 9mths is free).
