Country Paradise Parklands at Nerang has been around forever, but thanks to a massive $2.8m redevelopment, there is now an amazing adventure playground and picnic area to enjoy!
The centrepiece of the adventure playground is the 11.5m windmill with mega slide, accessed via a water-tank tunnel and swing bridge. Wrapping around the entire playground space is a creek bed with water play elements for the kids to get back to nature.
One of my favourite features of this playground is the varying equipment catering for all ages. There are so many play structures – one for the really little toddlers, one for the more adventurous preschoolers and a massive structure for everyone to enjoy, with the more difficult climbing elements enticing the older kids.
The playground has been built in the existing Country Paradise Parklands, and so there is plenty of shade from the established trees, and as the newly planted trees grow this will only be enhanced. Shade sails are over the lower elements of the playground, but obviously no shade sail over the tower!
The water play area features a number of water pumps, troughs and ramps, encouraging the kids to build natural channels and gullys for the water to flow through the rocks. Someone has also been kind enough to leave a bunch of shovels, buckets and trucks there to play with which was fun!
There is also a wide concrete path that circles the playground, with a few ramps and jumps built in for those who want to bring their scooters along.
In terms of facilities, there are heaps of covered picnic tables and BBQs all around the outside of the playground making it perfect for gatherings. There are toilets a short walk from the playground, and plans are in the works for a cafe to open right beside the playground which will only add to how popular this park is!
This is a very welcome addition to Country Paradise Parklands, and ideally located in terms of access from the M1 meaning everyone on the Gold Coast can easily drop in for a play! If you’re looking to extend your play at Country Paradise Parklands, don’t forget to check out the Community Sensory Gardens located in the same parklands precinct.
