Cadence Cafe is best known among locals as a spot for cyclists – with one of the Gold Coast’s biggest bike shops next door and the velodrome across the road, don’t be surprised to find a car park full of bikes if you visit! But while it does cater wonderfully for the cycling crowd, it also has one of the best family friendly set ups with an incredible gated play area!
Set across three levels, all are easily connected by a central path and steps. At the top you have the cafe itself, with some tables inside and a big glass window looking through to the bike shop. Outside the cafe is a large astroturfed space with a number of cafe tables under umbrellas and the shade of a large gum tree. Down about 4 steps is the lower area that connects to the playground, set up with bar tables and stools so you can see the playground while you eat. All levels can be accessed with a pram, and dogs are welcome in the outdoor areas.
While Cadence Cafe is located on busy Nerang Connection Rd, it’s actually quite a picturesque spot and you really don’t notice the traffic. It’s set a fair bit back from the road, has its own off-street parking and is under a huge shady fig tree. All of this makes it super accessible for parents with little ones who know the hardest part of going to a cafe is parking and getting everyone safely inside!
Once you find a spot (grab a table wherever you please and order at the counter), the kids will be itching to get into the gated play space. Here you’ll find a toddler friendly playground, toys and a few ride on toys. All of this is covered with a large shade sail and is also protected by the gum tree so plenty of shade.
Serving breakfast and lunch, the menu is fantastic and also caters for children. The kids milkshakes were a hit with my little guy!
