Alexander Clark Park at Loganholme is a huge parklands filled with recreational options – a playground with water play, a bike track, basketball, volleyball, dog off leash area and access to the Logan River for kayaking and canoes. The Australian themed playground is the real highlight of this space and provides lots of fun for families.
The centrepiece is a large Koala play sculpture, which children can climb through and engage with interactive panels, climbing opportunities and a large slide. Also included in this park is a water misting play area, which in theory kids can play in without getting too wet – however if your child is one for adventure and mess making, I’d pack some spare clothes! The misters lightly spray across the water play space, and there are a series of channels that fill up with pumps and kids can work to redirect the water flow around the space.
The park also has a great bike path, with two small pump tracks off it. One of them is better suited to younger children, with a service station and bait shop for imaginative play. The other has a few more features for kids with more pump track ability to test themselves. Other fun play features throughout the park include a flying fox, swings, trampolines, small slide and digger.
A couple of things to note:
There are a few shade sails, but given the height of the koala structure and how wide spread the entire playground is, there really isn’t enough shade and it gets hot quickly. We visited at 7.30am during Summer, and by 8am we were seeking out the shade and struggling with the heat.
The Koala play structure looks amazing, but be aware it is very narrow inside and lots of tight passageways to get through when climbing. If your child gets scared or stuck inside, it will not be easy as an adult to get inside it!
There is a dog offleash park nearby and many people were walking their dogs through the playground. While dogs aren’t allowed in playgrounds, many are ignorant of this rule so please be mindful when letting your children play.
