Bob Huth Park, Ashmore

The dinosaur that sat atop Holly Brooke Carter playground at Bob Huth Park in Ashmore has long been an institution. Watching out over everyone who drove past, kids loved to spot it! The playground was finally updated in mid-2022, and much to everyone’s delight, the dinosaur remains to entertain kids for another generation!

The playground is designed to cater for a range of ages, with both a big and small playground at Bob Huth Park. The big playground is 3-storeys high and has two slides (open and tunnel) coming off it. There’s a fun swinging bridge for the kids to climb across and plenty of high climbing opportunities too. The small playground has well secured steps that little ones can crawl or climb up without fear of falling off. There is also a small slide to tackle, and a few interactive panels.

Other elements in the playground include the dinosaur to climb, a see saw and a dinosaur rocker, swings and a spinning swing too. The playground is mostly covered by shade sails, and the parkland has plenty of open green spaces with shade trees. There are picnic shelters, but no toilets or BBQs.

Need to know:

  • Location: Slatyer Avenue, Ashmore
  • Parking: It can be a bit confusing to know where to park when visiting Bob Huth Park. Best parking is on Heeb Street, however be aware that Heeb Street is split right in front of the park and there is no access to the other side. Designated parking spaces are available on the western side of Heeb Street (accessed from Benowa Rd), but some on street parking is also available on the eastern side (accessed from Slatyer Av).
  • Facilities: shade covered playground, picnic shelters, street parking. No toilets or BBQs.
  • Accessibility: there is some uneven ground between the carpark and the pathway, and then a concrete pathway approx. 30m long to access the playground. Alternatively, ramp access to the pathway is available at the top of Heeb Street. The base of the playground is bark. Note: the map below does not show the newly added concrete pathway from the carpark (red dot) or the updated playground, but is accurate for location and parking details.
