Sometimes, the older parks win the day over the new parks, especially when they’re a unicorn park with ALL THE FACILITIES!! Toilets? Tick. Fenced playground? Tick. Shade covered? Tick. Bike path? Tick. That’s a lot of ticks which is why the playground at Norfolk West Reserve in Ormeau, while old, is definitely a favourite among locals.
Situated on Halfway Drive, Ormeau opposite the soccer fields, there is plenty of street parking and council toilets available to use. The playground itself is fully fenced and has equipment that will cater for toddlers through to older children, with lots of options to keep everyone happy.
There is plenty of climbing structures for the mini ninja-warriors, swings, balancing equipment, slides, a mini excavator and a toddler play structure too. Bring the bikes if you’ve got a speedster on hand, there is a windy concrete path through the reserve perfect for a bike or scooter. A basketball court sits alongside the playground and there is a small covered gazebo and table to sit at.
Located by the Norfolk Village Shops, Tavern and McDonalds, you can pick up a takeaway coffee on your way or stop in for lunch on your way home!
